Be
assured that your
right to privacy is respected and we are committed to protecting it.
The
Privacy Policy informs you how your personal information is used. Your
personal information will only be used in ways that are compatible with
this Privacy Policy.
How
is information collected and what is collected?
- Routine
information collected when anyone accesses our site
- Log
files
Like most other web sites, we collect statistics about all
visitors to our site. Whenever anyone visits a page on our site
their IP address and domain name is stored, together with the
time and date and the page accessed. This information by itself
will not identify you personally. You can only be identified by
combining this information with the log files of your Internet
Service Provider, which we obviously do not have access to. We
do not attempt to capture your email address by stealth.
- Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your computer,
which our web server sends to your browser. On request, the
browser will send the cookie back to the web server. This allows
us to customise certain aspects of the site according to your
requirements.
You can choose whether to accept cookies by changing your
browser settings. You can set your browser to refuse all
cookies, or allow your browser to show you when a cookie is
being sent. If you choose not to accept cookies, your experience
of our site and other Web sites may be diminished and some
features may not work as intended.
- Data
Uploaded for Analysis
Any data you upload, whether it be an extract from an LDS
National Index or a file of your own data, will only be stored on our site for a short
period of time - long enough for you to generate distribution
analyses. A cleanup procedure runs once a day which
removes uploaded files which are more than a day old. Your
data will not be examined by ourselves or our suppliers, other
than for the purposes of troubleshooting technical
problems. No data you upload will be retained.
- Personal
information provided by yourself
On certain pages on our site you may be asked to provide personal
information, such as name, email address etc. You are free to choose
whether you provide this information or not. Any information you
provide will be treated as confidential and will not be used for any
purposes other than as stated. This information is not shared with
third parties, other than in exceptional circumstances. These
circumstances are described below.
If you do not want to provide personal information on our site, you
do not have to. However, if you do provide such information it will
not be passed to others and will certainly not be used as a
marketable commodity by ourselves.
When would
personal information be disclosed?
We will only disclose
your personal information when required by law or in the good-faith
belief that such action is necessary to:
- Conform with the
law or comply with a legal order served on us by a UK court.
- Protect and defend
the rights or property of this site, or visitors to this site.
- Identify persons
who are violating the law or the rights of third parties.
- Cooperate with the
investigations of alleged unlawful activities by legally authorised
agencies.
The
Legal Bit
All
reasonable precautions are taken to keep any information disclosed to us
secure. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security or
for any actions of any third parties who receive the information.
By
visiting this site, you consent to the collection and use of information
by us as specified above. If we revise our privacy policy, we will post
those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what
information is collected, how it is used and under what circumstances it
will be disclosed and to whom.
