A great site....and here was me thinking I was in the minority with such a surname. There are quite a few of us in my family, with my Grandfather (from Manchester), two sons and six grandsons (including myself). Long may the name continue. When I was growing up, there was only my family in the phonebook. My wife has just become accustomed to the process of s p e l l i n g out her new surname to all and sundry - which we have all been used to doing for a lifetime. Keep up the good work.

I found this site, although I have not done much searching on my ancestory or the origin of my biological surname, my youngest daughter asked me to search, came across this site and intend to read more as time permits.

Hello there! My name is Dawn Wykes. I was born in Baddesley Ensor (a small mining village in North Warwickshire), where a number of my relatives are still living. All decended from Arthur Wykes (my grandfarther) who moved there to get a job as a hatter in Atherstone and subsequently married his sweetheart Mabel Chetwind (my grandmother)and they had six children. Sadly both Arthur and Mabel died recently. I now live in Coventry and so do both my parents Graham and Kathleen and my siblings Caroline, Anna and Jack. I would love to hear from any of my long lost relatives!!

(newspaper clipping says "last friday" but has no date) Grandmother's brother and sister were Edward Williamson and Barbara Godfrey. My father, aunt and uncle were Larry Patrick Weeks, Kelly (current last name unknown) and Michael, last name also unknown, but assumed to be Weeks. Looking for anyone.

My husband's family are also descended from John Ringrose born in Cotteasbrooke in 1807 According to the 1851 census. I cannot find his baptism or birth and do not know if he was the son of samuel and Ann of Cottesbrooke or John and Sarah of Spratton who all worshipped at great Creaton independant Church
