Hi, Your site is a great find! I only started thinking of my name and its heritage today at the library. Im at the point of A level exams and looming university, so my progress will probably be slow. I live in Gloucestershire now, but was born in Liverpool. My Grandfathers name is David Wike, and I believe he has brothers, all of which live in or around the Liverpool area. I hope to trace my family back as far as possible, and it seems that this site will make it that little bit easier. :) Many thanks, Andrew

My mother's maiden name was Weeks, descended from a William Weeks of South Tawton who was born about 1740. Can anyone tell me more about him and the rest of the family?

I have been researching my family history on and off for years and yesterday I found this website. It is really good. I am familiar with the history of North Wyke. My ancestors lived near South Tawton in Devon and it is very likely that they were descendants of the Wykes of North Wyke. Thank you Harry Wykes for developing this exciting website. I shall look forward to visiting it again.

I found your website very interesting. The Ringrose family lived in Creaton, they were the two carpenters listed in the 1849 Directory along with William Wykes the coal dealer.they worshipped at the independant chapel. Although the census says that John Ringrose was born in 1807 in Cottesbrooke I ca'nt find any record of his birth or baptism.
