I was born in London on 7th July 1923 and named Kathleen Elsie Wykes. My father was Charlton James Wykes and was born in Canada from first generation English immigrants. They were from Kent and they returned to London after the loss of five children to a fever in Canada, probably measles. I now live in Australia with my husband., John Krister. ... Kitty Wykes

Well, well! Fancy there being a website for us Wykes's! I married into the Wykes family, previously being a Skinner, and have never been so annoyed at the mispronunciation of my name! I never used to bother correcting people but then decided I had to defend myself, if not my name! I now politely murmur my surname correctly whenever I'm called WICKS, WHITE, WILKS, WEEKS or suchlike in public. Thanks for the site, bookmarked for future viewing! Lotsaluv Elaine Wykes

Sorry! Forgot to mention our whereabouts, I believe this particular branch of the Wykes's originates from the Leicestershire area.
