First of all I must thank you Harry for putting Karen Wykes, from Australia, in touch with me a couple of months ago. It turns out that she, and her two cousins in Oz, are distant cousins of mine. Secondly to let you know that, thanks to my new cousins, I have lots of new information on my WYKES from GODMANCHESTER in HUNTINGDONSHIRE. John Wykes, b:1818, married Elizabeth MASON, b:1820, in Godmanchester, in 1841. Their daughter, Mary was born the same year. She was my GGGrandmother. I have discovered that John Wykes' father was also John and he was born in CHATTERIS, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, in 1792. He married Elizabeth LADD, in c.1815, in Chatteris. Thanks, Harry, for this wonderful site and all your hard work.

Hi Harry. Paul Wicks' genealogy pages are now at http://www.wicks.org - I've now traced my own branch of Wicks' from the Lewisham/Greenwich/Deptford area back to Horley and Leigh near the Surrey/Sussex border. I believe I'm descended from an Edward WICKS who married an Abigail WARREN at Leigh, Surrey on 9 April 1784.

Holy Cow what a site.good 2c so many of us spreading the name and lives of the WYKES`s over the world. here in OZ i thought we were a rare & tough breed now i know it`s the tip of the iceberg.I am the gggg grandson of; James & Susan, ggg g/s John, gg g/s JT, g g/s Ernest, g/s Oz and son to Ken. Very interesting read hope this finds you all in good health, by the way how many Red heads are out there, I think I`m the only one on this side of our family but I hope someone proves me wrong. With the red hair & surname life is interesting. By the way when asked to spell my name for the third time I usually say, spells & sounds like Dykes, and you don't pronounce that, DICKS !!!! See you all in the funny pages. Regards Ben. Sydney.
