This is a great site, I'm going through it with a fine tooth comb. What a find! My great family puzzle actually is the spouse of George Wicks b. @ 1869, Orange, NJ. Anyone know of him? it's stopped me cold. My grandmother Hazel's marriage registry reads Barbara Murphy, her Eulogy by her son reads Barbara Redmond, father George Wicks. They had 13 children, can anyone help?

My great grandmother Susan Elizabeth Wicks b Tywardreath, England, married John Price (not sure location) and had about eight children in PA, USA between 1857 and 1877. Interested in hearing from any other descendants of Susan in addition to Kay (message just above) especially any still in England.

not tracing, just browsing, very interesting site, best wishes to all the Wykes' out there (there's more than I thought), from Guernsey (the first introduction of the name to the Channel Islands perhaps?) although originally from Oxford, UK. cheers, Nick.

Great site, thanks! I am researching the Wix family that settled in Pennsylvania.

Thank you, Harry! I especially liked the Viking-Vyk-Wyk-Wykes connection - 1000 years later our branch are still building wooden boats. Hurrah for the Wolves of the Sea.

I have just read your web site with great interest! My g-grandfather was George Frederick Wicks b. abt 1872 in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, UK, the son of Henry William (b. abt 1839 Liverpool, Lancs, UK) and Elizabeth (b. abt 1844 Liverpool, Lancs, UK). At the time of the 1881 census, Henry and Elizabeth had 5 sons (Henry, Ensign, George, Richard and John). I am still in the early stages of researching my family tree but would be interested to hear from anyone who originates from the same line.
