|Hello from Australia! Am trying to research my father's family. Joseph Wicks arrived in South Australia in 1839 with his wife Ann (nee Fortune). Have their marriage certificate from Horsley, Gloucestershire but very little other information about them before they set foot here. On this certificate Joseph's surname given as "Weeks".
Beverley Clarke (nee Wicks),

Hi, I was born In Cornwall, Scholem Wicks but changed names when i was 6. My Father David Wicks b. 17th Oct 1944 later changed to David Stanton-Wicks, (I don't know why he wanted a double barreled surname). He grew up in Launceston, Cornwall, parents Charles Wicks and Rosemary Wicks (maiden name Kelly) He seems to know a fair bit about Wicks family and Launceston. I'd like to ask him but he's working in Italy. He mentioned that he believes our ancestors were Vikings. Yes my first name is weird, so is my Dad. Kernow bys vyken.

I have a Hugh Talbot born ca 1078 and married to Emme de Lacie, HE WAS KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MELLENT. Could the TALBOT be the elusive ancester to the WYKES?

I was born in South Africa after ancestors emigrated from Torquay, Devon ,England late in the 19th century. My paternal grandfathers name was Sydney; he married Emma Bartholomew in South Africa. I would be pleased to hear from possible relatives

Hi, a great site. Looking for relatives of my great grandfather who changed his name from Joseph Wykes to Joseph Russell when he came to Australia in about 1864. His parents were William Wykes and Isabella Louth. Joseph was born (I'm pretty sure) in Little Brington or Bozeat in 1838. He had a number of brothers and sisters - one of whom I found on your pages who lived in Utah (Leonard). Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks Jan Christie
