Well, it seems ok so I'' try again. My GG-Grandmother was Mary Wykes, born 1841, Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire. I can't pinpoint her Birth Cert as there are a few Mary W's born around that time but none listed in Godmanchester (this was according to the 1881 Census). Her Father was John Wykes, (listed on her marriage cert as a Dealer in Marine Stores). She married Thomas Freelay, at age 16, at St Andrews Roman Catholic Church, on 2 February, 1858, in Cambridge. Anyone out there got Wykes' in Huntingdon? I would be happy to hear from any Wykes who would like to share info.

I am researching my family tree, going back from my Great grandfather George Horatio Weeks who was an Engineer Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy 1880 - 1900 approx. Family with branches in South Africa. Contacts, links, info welcome. My work e-mail address peter.weeks@ioppublishing.co.uk works as well.

My husband's gr-gr-gr-grandfather was a Wykes, whose daughter married a King; he died in England; she emigrated with 4 children to New Zealandin 1850. Just looking to see if you have any information. Cheers!
