I am a retired minister of the Uniting Church In Australia (formerly a Methodist minister prior to church union). I served as an Australian Army Methodist Chaplain in the Vietnam War (1970-1971) I am a great great grandson of James & Susan Wykes who emigrated to Australia from Lutton, Lincolnshire, England in 1852. I am a grandson of William Richard (W.R.) Wykes (deceased) of Bournewood, Via Wellington, New South Wales, Australia.

Referred by David B. Wicks who has contributed much to this site. It is fascinating reading. The origins of the names are so enlightening. I'm needing details on my WICKS family who lived in Rickmansworth, Hert. in 1800's (William Wicks and Sarah Coleman). Census 1841 indicates that William was not born Hert., but Sarah was, and their six children - William, John, Jane, Alfred, Sarah, Anne.

Interesting site - thanks to David Wicks for pointing me in this direction. Interested currently in William Wicks - farm baliff in 1872 possibly in Ufford Suffolk where he was born - he was certainly in Ufford in 1849/1850 when his son Charles was born.

Recent confirmation that my gggg grandmother is Grace Weeks (Wicks per baptism register for her children). Grace was born ca 1754, Lifton, Devon. Can anyone help with her baptism? Also, she must have siblings. Thanks.

Very nice to see your page, truly inspiring for the beginning efforts on my own HON(e)YCHURCH family page, in its infancy right now. We've got lots of common ancestors, so I'll be in touch.
