I see that you have the name Wixe as s possible one descending from the name Wykes. However - the surname Wixe is Swedish and not very old. The origin is a lake in a part of Sweden called Småland, where my father and his siblings grew up. They took the name in the late 30´s, I believe. And as far as I know we are the only family in the world that carries that last name.

I am the (8 greats) grandaughter of Leonard (Wyke) Weeks to emigrated from Compton Martin to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA in about 1680. Thanks for all the interesting information and pictures on this site. I have just started accumulating information this year, so I am still a novice.

I found your web page really interesting. My grandmother(Ohio)was a Wykes before she married my grandfather Coates. Their only son was my father, Donald Coates. There are many cousins now living in Hardin County, Ohio. I will try to get some specific info if you are interested.

Hi, my maiden name is Wykes born Nuneaton Warwickshire in 1959 (big 40 this year!). Paternal family home in Atherstone where there are still many Wykes' resident. My grandfather had six brothers and a sister. He in turn had three sons (one being my father). After scrolling thru the web site there does not seem to be much history regarding Warwickshire? I believe that my great grandfather hailed from Coventry. Did these Wykes' migrate to the industrial Midlands? Great web site. Regards Dawn Stallard

My grandfather's name was Clayton Hayes Wyke from Pennsylvania. My father, Paul Hayes Wyke was his only son, and I am my father's last of three daughters. We don't have much information about our ancestory. My grandfather was raised by his mother, who was not married to Mr Wyke. He did have a brother who moved to California in the early 1900's. Any info would be helpful.
