My paternal grandmother was a Wykes. The daughter of William Wykes of Mountsorrel Leicestershire. I know at least 3 of my Wykes family emigrated to USA in 19C.

In order to acknowledge all of your history you have to discover this accept ALL of your history. I have completed a Ancestry.com DNA test and my results show 13% Great Britain and actual and not a trace. I am a Descendant of the Wykes the original Mayflower Quaker settlers to the USA. I am a Direct Descendant of John Wyke and Bridget Ragnor Wyke. I am also an African American with a total of 30% ethnicity other than African. I was lucky to trace my ancestry from today back to the 1300s of Great Britain/England/UK. My DNA matches daily many in Australia and Great Britain. The Wyke Binfords protected their children and as Quakers granted freedom to those they enslave, loved and inpregnated and held dear as relatives beginning in the 1600s. There is no doubt that many have ignored the possibility or the reality that this bloodline has spreaded deep across the world and here in the USA the WYKE's and Binfords loved unconditionally. I hope that you reading this does so as well. Lenora

I am writing to advise relatives of the WYKES Family in Australia who resided in the Central West of New South Wales - Wellington & Yeoval areas celebrated a together with a reunion (last W/END in October, 2017 )just recently of the current generations of Alice & Fardy Wykes, [James & Susan Wykes original immigrants from Creaton, England. ] who lived in Warne St, Wellington later in life. So all living family members celebrated a special get together after so many years. Only four children of the family are alive, with three attended the reunion last month. Approximately 160 relatives attended the weekend from various states of Australia, mainly from New South Wales & Queensland. Unfortunately my wife & I couldn't attend as we were overseas at the time. From all reports it was a great success for those who attended the weekend. Congratulations must go to the organisers who did a marvellous job, evening events & a bus tour of the old farmhouse & churches in the area. ** Will be making this reunion a 2 year event for the future. Also the family history book was updated / and reprinted & made available for all family members to mark the occasion.
