|I believe my great great great great grandfather was solomon wykes b1772 -1848.He was born Chivers Coton Warwickshire.He had a son James 1816 who had a son Thomas 1848.He came to Manchester late 1870s and had a son John in 1880.Anyone out there related,let me know

I left a message way back in oct 2004 as I was then trying to trace my fathers family he was William albert Wykes son of Edward and Rhoda Wykes. and Brother of Reginald George, Tom, and sister Ellen, all lived in Brimpton Berks in the fortys and fifties where Edward was a gamekeeper on the highmore ? est. Reginald was killed at the end of ww2 and is buried in reichswald forest cemetery, any information would be appreciated thanks, Keith

I would be very interested to find out more about Diana Wykes, born Thorpe Malsor, Northants, Jan 9, 1838, married 1861 to Thomas Goodman, died October 31, 1916. There doesn't seem to be a Diana in the impressively long list of Wykes.

Edward Harris of Cornworthy in devonshire married Ist Elizabeth Vowell by whom he had 4 sons and 2 daughters. of whom I have found Mary Harris married William Greatrakes , Thomas Harris Sergeant of Law & MP who married Elizabeth Pomeroy Dau of Sir Henry Pomeroy of Colquite in St Mabyn Cornwall When Elizabeth died he married Agnes Huckmore ( widow of Sir Thomas Pomeroy) and had 5 more children Susanne Harris married Henry Fortescue Arthur HARRIS ( 1640) married Honor WYKES Giles Harris John Harris died after 1638 William Harris b April 1562 died in January 1594 Sir Edward Harris ( son of Thomas Harris and Elizabeth Pomeroy dau of Sir Henry Pomorey of Colquite in Cornwal) was He was a Judge and Member of Parliament, and Chief Justice of the Irish Province of Munster -.his wife is unknown at this time. He died soon the 21st of August 1638. was buried first at the Parish Church of Kilcredan, County of Cork in Ireland he was later re-interred in the Cornworthy Parish Church. There are a number of Harris memorials inthe cornworthy church. His mothey Lady Elizabeth left numerous charitable legacies to the poor of the parish. His half brother Arthur Harris (son of Agnes Huckmore ) married Honor Wykes daughter of John Wykes and Katherine Giffard in Devon John Wykes (b.1524 - d.1591) was Constable of the Parish in 1553 and captain in the Devon Militia and held command in a horse regiment and fought at Havre de Grace where he was wounded. He evidently did not spend all his time away as by his wife, Mary Giffard, because they produced eight sons and three daughters. John, Roger, Mark, William, Launcelot, Edith ,Gertrude, Honor, Walter and Christopher. RICHARD POMEROY MARRIED 1545 ANNE WYKES daughter of William Wykes and mother Agnes Strowbridge WIDOW OF THOMAS ARTURE who died in 1544 Sir Thomas Arture of Clapton in Gordeno and Anne daughter of William Wykes, who had manor in Crewkerne called Hanley,/Henley - married 1539 and had four children. Thomas made his will in 1542 -naming his children. The 1542 Will of Sir Thomas Arthur put one of his brothers- in- law, Thomas Launsden MP ( husband of his sister Elizabeth) in charge of his children, with an income from Clapton to pay his expenses the eldest son was John Arthur the son and heir, then Thomas Arthur, George Arthur and finally Anne Arthur, his daughter. He died and the Will was probated in 1544. Thomas Launsden -brother in- law of Sir Thomas Arthur, an MP circa 1533, was a Bristol merchant. He traded as a haberdasher and around 1542 borrowed capital sum of £70 from his brother-in-law. He married twice had 4 children and was twice elected MP. Anne Wykes's mother, Agnes Wykes, Will. The "Overseer" of which was Richard Pomerey, esq. Agnes Wykes, (nee Strowbridge) widow of William Wykes, of Nynehed Florie, Somerset. (She also has associations with North Wyke, in Devon, which, incidentally, adjoins Rowden, in Devon.) Will dated July 30 1552, proved Aug 17 1554. To my daughter Alice 100 pounds. My sons, Thomas, Andrew and John Wykes. Joan, wife of Andrew. William, son of Andrew. Ann, daughter of ditto. Elizabeth, wife of John Wykes, John son of John Wykes. Alice, daughter of John Wykes. Elizabeth daughter of Andrew Wykes.
